Surprisingly, I can remember Arne going back + 50 years. He often visited Abel Lajtha at the Research Institute for Neurochemistry and Drug Addiction on Wards Island, NY. Somewhat like Arne, I was doing amino acid uptake in brain slices at that time. We met at many of the society meetings over the years, and more closely interacted as editors for Neurochemical Research for the past + 15 years. I appreciated his continued dedication to help improving the journal, and to defining extra help to submissions coming from developing countries. He has left a lasting mark on the journal, and to the neurochemistry field of study.
I will always remember his smiling face as we met yearly for the editor and/or publisher meetings, or if not a meeting, a dinner invitation when he came to New York. I appreciate having known him for his science and friendship.
