UNS – In an effort to enhance synergy, leaders from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, represented by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Ir. Dody Ariawan, S.T., M.T. Ph.D., and the Director of the Directorate of Academic Reputation and Student Affairs (DRAK), Dr. Sutanto, S.Si, DEA., engaged in a cordial meeting with the Lombok branch of the UNS Alumni Association (IKA UNS) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The gathering took place at Lesehan Green Asri, Mataram, Lombok, NTB, on Sunday (18/8/2024).
Several IKA UNS Lombok officials were present at the meeting, including the First Chairman, Dr. Kasnawi Al Hadi, S.Pd., M.Si.; Secretary General, Satutik Rahayu, S.Pd., M.Pd.; and Treasurer, Hari Rudianto.
Prof. Dody Ariawan expressed his gratitude to the IKA UNS Lombok board and members for their significant contributions in supporting various UNS activities, particularly those held in Lombok, NTB. “On August 15, I took this opportunity to introduce myself as the newly appointed Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni. Moving forward, I plan to maintain more frequent communication with UNS alumni,” Prof. Dody explained.
Prof. Dody also reflected on the Lombok earthquake in 2018, when UNS quickly deployed volunteers and aid to assist the victims. At that time, the UNS Volunteer Team greatly benefited from the support of IKA UNS Lombok. “We are thankful because, during our time in Lombok, our Volunteer Team consolidated at the home of one of the IKA UNS Lombok members. The house was used as a command post, which facilitated our team’s efforts in strategizing how to assist the earthquake victims,” he added.
He emphasized that alumni play a crucial role as they serve as UNS’s extended arm in promotion efforts. With a significant number of UNS alumni residing in Lombok, NTB, it is hoped that more Lombok residents will become familiar with UNS. “The more people know about UNS, the more likely it is that young people in Lombok will choose to study at UNS,” Prof. Dody noted.
With UNS’s achievements and diverse study programs, including Diploma 3, Diploma 4, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees, Prof. Dody is confident that UNS will hold a unique appeal for the residents of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. “UNS offers many admission pathways for new students, and we encourage alumni to actively promote UNS. Every year, UNS sends students for Students Community Service Programs (KKN) in Lombok, and the presence of alumni is incredibly helpful,” Prof. Dody remarked.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of IKA UNS Lombok, Satutik Rahayu, S.Pd., M.Pd., expressed her appreciation for the visit from UNS to Lombok. “We at IKA UNS Lombok are ready to collaborate with UNS and support all UNS activities held in Lombok, NTB,” Satutik said.
IKA UNS Lombok Treasurer, Hari Rudianto, expressed his pride in being a UNS alumnus. “We are ready to support UNS’s activities,” he concluded.
