UNS Launches Warung Digital NKRI in Collaboration with BNPT

UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has partnered with the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) to launch a new initiative called the Warung Digital NKRI. The inauguration was conducted by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., and the Deputy for Prevention, Protection, and De-radicalization of BNPT RI, Major General (TNI) Roedy Widodo, on Tuesday (20/8/2024).

The Warung Digital NKRI, an acronym for “Wadah Akur Rukun Usaha Nurani Gelorakan NKRI (Warung NKRI) Demi Indonesia, Gerakan Informasi & Teknologi yang Aman dan Lancar (Digital),” (Platform for Harmonious and United Efforts to Ignite the Spirit of NKRI for Indonesia – A Movement for Safe and Smooth Information & Technology) serves as a gathering place for all members of the UNS academic community. Located on the second floor of the Faculty of Engineering’s canteen, it is designed to be an educational hub, promoting national awareness through a humanistic approach within the university environment.

In his remarks, the Rector of UNS expressed his hopes for the successful implementation of the Warung Digital NKRI project, initiated in collaboration with BNPT.

“Thank you to everyone who has taken the time out of their busy schedules to attend today’s inauguration of the Warung Digital NKRI UNS. This project is a collaborative effort between BNPT and the university to support deradicalization programs. We are fully committed to this initiative and hope it runs smoothly,” Prof. Hartono said.

Major General Roedy Widodo, Deputy for Prevention, Protection, and De-radicalization of BNPT RI, emphasized the importance of rejecting radicalism. He explained that the Warung Digital NKRI has dual significance, both as a place for gathering and as a platform to promote unity and the values of NKRI (the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia).

“This Warung Digital NKRI serves as a venue for dining, casual discussions on national issues, and dialogues focused on preventing radicalism. The café menu includes tea, coffee, and sugar, each with symbolic meanings. Tea stands for ‘tolerance, empathy, and harmony’; coffee represents ‘unity as a remedy for Indonesian solidarity’; and sugar symbolizes ‘cooperation for a safe environment.’ These elements, both literally and metaphorically, align with the café’s purpose. The space can also be used for community activities and to foster creativity,” Major General Roedy Widodo explained.

During the inauguration, Major General Roedy Widodo expressed his gratitude to all parties involved in bringing the Warung Digital NKRI to life.

“On behalf of myself and as a leader in this institution, I hope that the Warung Digital NKRI continues to serve as a unifying tool, even in a community with diverse backgrounds. This aligns with our national motto, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, meaning ‘Unity in Diversity,'” the Deputy for Prevention, Protection, and De-radicalization of BNPT RI added.
