UNS – A team of three students from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has won the overall championship title at the 2024 National Student Cooperative Jamboree (Jambore Koperasi Mahasiswa, or Jamkopnas), held at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD).
The team, led by Ratih, a student from the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) program batch 2021, included Ja’izah Nasywa, an English Education student batch 2022, and Hardani Ismu Nabil, a Mathematics student batch 2023. They secured 1st place in the essay category, 1st place and the Favorite Award in the creative short movie category, and 3rd place along with the Best Speaker Award in the business plan category.
Ratih shared with uns.ac.id that Jamkopnas is a prestigious national competition among student cooperatives (Kopma) across Indonesia. She also recounted the challenges the team faced in their journey to victory.
“We encountered many obstacles while preparing for this competition because our team of three had to juggle meetings and coordination on our ideas amidst our Final Exam schedule. But Alhamdulillah, we managed to get through it,” Ratih explained.
In the final round of Jamkopnas, Ratih and her teammates trained rigorously to prepare their presentations and created a simple prototype to set them apart from the other finalists. Ratih focused on the essay category, Nasywa on the creative short movie category, and Hardani on the business plan category.
“We didn’t expect that our efforts would lead us to become the overall champions, and we’re grateful that each of us also won in our respective competitions,” Ratih said enthusiastically.
Jamkopnas is an annual competition involving all student cooperatives under the Indonesian Student Cooperative Communication Forum (FKKMI). The event took place from Wednesday (31/7/2024) to Saturday (3/8/2024). According to the rules, the overall champion is designated as the host for the following year’s competition.
“Since our team from UNS won the overall championship at Jamkopnas 2024, UNS will host Jamkopnas 2025,” Ratih added.
